TIPS AND ADVICE!
NetDrivers will build your website, but we are not specialists in your business or service sector. You need to have your own ‘small print’ ready with your page text for us to work with. Take advice from appropriate bodies in your industry sector to ensure you place the correct wording on your website. NetDrivers (a brand of DealDrivers Ltd) do not accept any responsibility or liability arising from text provided by yourself, nor text excluded by yourself, on the website we create for you relating to how your business operates and its legal environment. You take responsibility for ensuring your legal requirements and compliances are met in relation to your business and its governing legislation.

So!!, some things to think about when working on text for your new website:

PAGES: what pages do you need? Apart from the obvious product or service pages...what about an Enquiry Form? (and when a customer enquires do you want them to see an acknowledgement/ thank you page?). How about an ‘About us’ page? A Legal Terms page? A Privacy Statement?

TARGET AUDIENCE: Ensure you know what type of people you are trying took attractive to..their ages, demographics, locations, their preferred buying process, will they be looking for lifestyle ‘comfort’ photography?

TEXT: Think carefully about page text, ideally your key messages need to fit onto the main screen shot of each page.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
If using your own, ensure you use a good quality digital camera, and send us the shots as .jpg or .gif files, re-sized to a max 200k ideally. When taking shots, be aware of who is ‘in shot’, you may need their permission to use their image. Your pictures must not break any copyright rules and should portray your business clearly. You cannot ‘copy’ pictures from other sites without permission, they are governed by copyright.

If your business relies on customers finding your premises attractive, you can also use ‘detail’ shots of great items (architecture, mouldings, soft furnishings, art etc) to enhance the feel of your site.

LINKS: Links are great as they enhance your website’s status in search engines. If you plan to have one-way links or mutual links, you may need to add wording to exclude you from liabilities caused by third parties and their websites.

TERMS OF USE You may need to include wording to manage conditions and terms of the use of your website. This can encompass copyright protection, change to site content, disclaimers and any limitations of liability etc

ONLINE TRADING If you are trading online with other businesses or customers your wesbite should be crystal clear regarding terms of sale, payment and cancellation policies, returns policy, etc. The terms should be easily accessed and form part of any customer sign-up or purchase process.

When a customer places an order, your site should send an order confirmation to them by email detailing the items or service, prices, any delivery package, and payment details. It should also cover the customer’s right to cancel. That order confirmation should bear basics like your trading name and address, a contact address, right to cancel under Distance Selling Regulations, conditions of order acceptance, and any service contract details including dates, exclusions etc.

PRIVACY POLICY If you collect data about users of your website, you should include a statement on your website about how and what you collect, and how it may be used. Basic areas you need to cover are:
· what information you collect
· how you handle and store the information (i.e. how is it secured?)
You may also need to register with the DPA (Data Protection Authority), check their website to see if your company and plans for data need to comply.
